Many people know the Jeff Galaxy, but few people know it by its original name - The Galaxyoptryx, which is a sub-species of a tech-trance DJ. This majestic monster has lived off of these lands for over 15 years. It is best known for the den it creates each year, which is curiously one hour west of its real home in Regina. In this den all manner of creatures assemble annually to enjoy the sounds heard all night and day. Some people call this den Connect.

The Jeff Galaxy is nomadic in the time between each 'Connect'. It has been observed around eastern Europe and the UK. Animal and techno lovers have even reported a Galaxyoptryx in various parts of Canada and the USA. There was even a sighting in Hawaii on New Year's 1999 at free party on the beach. It has frolicked and played along some of the most influential creatures throughout the earth and throughout the history of his DJ species.

A Galaxyoptryx makes a powerful sound when close to amplified turntables. Many zoologists have been unable to explain why the effect occurs, but all of them describe it in the same way "Punchy basslines, dark building synths and eerie samples are linked together with a masterful progression of intensity and peppered with tribal drums". One scientist has even said the inclusion of "hard kicks" would most definitely categorize this sound as defense from predators. There is one thing they can agree on, it's great to dance to.

There are few stranger creatures in the wild than the elusive Galaxyoptryx. Spotting one can be trickier than one might think. Even though it has all of the previously mentioned defense mechanisms to elude capture, it is a beast of habit. Every year it returns to its traditional gathering point, the Connect festival main stage. The creature will mysteriously appear Monday morning at 4am for 2 hours... or so... This is the finest moment in all of the year for the local woodland residents. They will assemble in the brightest of colours and perform a ritualistic dance to send the Jeff Galaxy off into the morning... only to return the next year.

Jeff Galaxy is the founder and Creative Director of Connect. He has dedicated his life to this festival and is committed to bringing you the best in electronic music that Saskatchewan, and the World, has to offer.

Jeff began as DJ ME, and founded the Galaxy Lounge club night in Regina in the early 90s. He worked along- side Dr. J and Cueball in Regina, and the PPM crew (deko-ze, wade & crew) in Saskatoon. After trips to Burning Man festival, planet MOVE, bermuda triangle MOVE (yeah, world class djs playing on a cruise ship sailing around the bermuda triangle). Jeff became convinced it was time for Saskatchewan to experience electronic music outdoors.

That year - 1996 - a few hundred people came out to hear some of western Canada's best dj's, and a few international treats- And so Connect was born. His belief of always promoting the music first has become a life long determination and passion that has allowed Connect to become Canada’s longest running electronic music festival. 14 years later he is still working hard, along with the incredible people of the Connect Tribe to bring the music to you - still outdoors. Jeff is opening the main stage on Sunday morning, and closing it on Sunday night / Monday morning.

Nowadays, Manni, Kait, Chirp, Fin & Connect are Jeff's main focuses along with family, world peace, good salads & the connect tribe. Join him Saturday morning 10am for a 5km run around the park, dunes and trails. Meet at the front gate!

pickle tour mix (2006)

a whole lotta nuthin (2009)

Jeff Galaxy is a robot. This explains his un-human (yes that's a word) ability to mix records.
He is a prototype Roland device that can flawlessly spin, gone renegade.
Upon his escape from the top secret Roland laboratory, he realized his ethylene battery was running low and could only fuel himself by consuming mass amounts of alcohol.
Connect is a brainwashing experiment used to assemble an army of ravers driven by pounding techno music.
He also, as I'm told, has built in TB-303 emulators, just listen to him carefully and you can pick up the unmistakable "wah wooah" sounds.
You can tell he is getting stronger as his side burns are engulfing the planet.

Be afraid.
