Y2LHEN (Lennie Budgell) is a musician in the area of dance music with a heavy 8bit theme to most of his music. Starting on just one PSP running LSDJ he began to program basic chip tunes that gained him a few local shows in Saskatoon. During this time he programed and recorded 2 albums.
The first album was entitled "Set phasers to dance" and like his second album "You leave me empty like a dead pixel" was just LSDJ + a PSP. Both of these albums were released online for free on the web label SDR (Severed Digit Records).
After these albums he took a break from LSDJ and started to experiment with computer programs and trackers. He was introduced to a program called buzz tracker and still uses it to this day to produce his music. After his break from and his move onto the computer he came back with the mind melting 8bit break core romp "Jonestown Breakdown" which was released on the web label Dex and the city records out of latvia with about 700+ downloads to this day.
After this release Y2LHEN started to play more shows and more local popularity and popularity abroad. Playing such events as Sweet Show 1,2 and 3 and MN8 Alpha and Beta Y2LHEN was starting to make it into the dance scene of saskatoon and surrounding area.
Seeing how big the dance scene was starting to get once again in saskatoon Y2LHEN decided with his 4th release called "Dance Theory" (Released on the label POP QUIZ!!! out of saskatoon) that he was going to attempt to go less 8bit and more electro. The album was released in late 2007 and the change in sound seemed to work as Dance Theory has had 1330+ downloads. (and rising)
So far in the year 2008 Y2LHEN already has released a tune on the amazing compilation POP QUIZ 50! which has received over 25,000 downloads so far.
At the moment Y2LHEN is hard to work on his 5th release where he will turn back to the 8bit sounds with a pounding 8bit Techno album due out some time in the year 2009.
Currently for his live shows he uses 1 PSP running his songs (made in buzztracker) into a Korg Kaoss Pad 3 and does all his playing around on that. He usually brings along the gameboy still running a gameboy camera tracker for some very chippy background sounds.
